Videos and photos of what’s reportedly a dummy iPhone 8 have been unveiled online, showing off a vertical rear-facing camera, an edge-to-edge display and an integrated home button on the front.
One feature missing from this particular dummy device is the Touch ID fingerprint reader that has previously been rumoured to appear on the back. The lack of any detail on the back of the handset would suggest that is too integrated into the screen of the latest iPhone iteration.
What is consistent with other leaks is the two-tone black and silver casing that was also leaked by Benjamin Gaskin, although he expects it to be all black when the iPhone 8 actually launches later in the year.
The leaks come courtesy of 9to5Mac, which apparently was sent the video and pictures as an exclusive. It also received pictures of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 Plus side-by-side so the changes are more obvious. The iPhone 8 is visibly smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus and although it’s hard to see changes because the iPhone 8’s screen doesn’t turn on, its design is much more streamlined than last year’s iPhone flagship.
If this is the iPhone 8, it would seem rumours its display measures 5.8in is accurate, although whether it has wireless charging or not isn’t evident from these pictures.
