Nintendo has included a “share” button with the Switch, located on the left Joy-Con controller. And now the company has confirmed that it will only support screenshot capture, at least in the beginning.

And only screenshots — the Switch share button does not capture/record gameplay videos or livestream gameplay footage. Nintendo says that players will be able to edit the screenshots by adding text and sharing them on social media like Twitter and Facebook.

And that’s about it, for now at least: Nintendo says that they plan on adding video capture and share functionality to the Switch share button in the future, but did not elaborate as to when that might happen.

Both Sony and Microsoft offer players to easily capture and share videos on their respective consoles, hopefully Nintendo will join that club soon.

Additionally, the PS4 and Xbox One offer players to live-stream their gameplay sessions. Nintendo has yet to confirm if a feature like that might come to the Switch console.
