Swedish retailer Webhallen announced that the Switch is quite a popular item over there: the console has been pre-ordered more than the PS4 at the store.
“It’s still January but 2017 seems to be Nintendo’s year. We have already received more pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch than the PlayStation 4, and it’s still going strong!” said the retailer in a statement on Facebook.
While Sweden is relatively a small video games market compared to the US and Japan, Webhallen is one of the largest retailers in the country. It’s the first sign of how well the Switch is doing in terms of pre-orders compared to previous consoles.
We’ve heard rumors that Switch pre-orders were doing well in the US and Japan, but we’ve yet to have a retailer come forward with some numbers or comparison.
And we don’t expect Nintendo to share pre-order numbers — they haven’t done it with the Wii or Wii U.
The Switch launches on March 3rd and will retail for $299.
