One of the oversights that Nintendo made with the Switch is not including any way to use a Bluetooth headset or earphones with the device. These wireless audio devices are becoming a lot more common thanks to modern phones like the iPhone 7 opting to completely remove the 3.5mm audio jack from the device, so it’s understandable why some people want to do this.
I’m here to tell you that there is a way you can use your Bluetooth headset with your Nintendo Switch, but you’ll have to fork over some extra cash to get the accessories in order to hook it up. By the way, credit for this goes to u/paradeigmas on reddit who came up with the idea and took the photos. He says it works well, if you’re willing to deal with the bulk.
1. You’ll need a few parts from Amazon to get started.
First up you’ll need to buy a Bluetooth Transmitter and a small male-to-male 3.5mm jack cable in order to get this all setup. The OP also bought some small patches of velcro to attach to the back of the Nintendo Switch to hold the unit in place. This seems like the best option, but be careful about adding adhesives to the Switch over the logo on the back.
2. Attaching the velcro to the Switch.
This step is pretty easy, just put the velcro where you want the transmitter to rest when you’re using the machine.
3. How it looks when attached.
Note you won’t be able to use the official dock with this Bluetooth transmitter attached, so you’ll need to remove it before you go about your day. If you primarily use your Switch in portable mode without the dock, it shouldn’t cause you too much trouble where it’s positioned in these pictures.
It’s crude-looking and sticks out and it’s obviously not the ideal solution, but it does work. If you prefer to use Bluetooth audio for your phone and want to have that option with the Nintendo Switch, consider using this setup.
