The competitive Pokémon gaming scene has been up and running for a few months already in 2016, with players around the world battling it out to qualify for the World Championships later this year. One of the most notable precursors for that event is running this weekend – The Pokémon US National Championships

Day one is mainly focused on breaking down the field to get to elite players for the weekend showdowns, but nevertheless there’s plenty of action to enjoy with the Trading Card Game, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and Pokkén Tournament.

We’ll be sure to get these up for the start of play tomorrow, in any case below you can see some of the day one action from all three contests and their early rounds.
